Now, it’s a year on and our winner Will is over half way through his wonder-filled, experience-rich world tour. So, we thought we’d ask him to share the top 10 songs of his trip so far.
You can read why these songs made the list below, or just hit play, switch off and imagine what you’ll be listening to on your Great Global Adventure:
1. All We Need (feat. Shy Girls), ODESZA:
This is the song that will always remind me of the sun, beach and good times that I had in Sydney!
2. The Nights, Avicii:
As the Great Global Adventurer, I resonate well with the lyrics of this song because it reminds you to embrace every opportunity and to live a life you remember!
3. Don't Stop Me Now, Queen:
Every playlist needs a song from Queen! This is the perfect song for when you're on a roll and I especially like it for when I'm hiking.
4. Mr Blue Sky, ELO:
This song instantly puts a smile on your face! It also reminds me of the bluest skies that I saw at the Terelj National Park in Mongolia.
5. A Sky Full of Stars, Coldplay:
I saw the clearest and the most stars ever whilst on an overnight bus travelling through the North Island in New Zealand.
There were constellations that I had never seen before and it really was nature at its best!
6. Step Out, Jose Gonzalez:
This song is from the soundtrack of "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty", one of my favourite films about travel, taking a chance in life and going for it!
7. Home, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes:
No matter where I travel, there's no place like home. This song reminds me of home and my friends and family.
8. On Top Of The World, Imagine Dragons:
I was listening to this song whilst standing on the Great Wall of China in Beijing. I've visited it twice now, in both the sun and the snow and both times it really does feel that you're on top of the world.
9. The Fellowship (from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring), The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra:
As a fan of the Lord of The Rings films, visiting Hobbiton was one of my highlights whilst travelling in New Zealand.
It looked so realistic and it really felt that I was in Middle Earth. This song also reminds me of the beautiful scenery of New Zealand that was used in the films such as Mount Ngauruhoe (Mount Doom) found in the Tongariro Crossing.
10. Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia, Aram Khachaturian:
My favourite classical piece to listen to for when I want to drift off to sleep on a long journey and prepare for the next day.
