Gaining international experience as an AXA graduate

When I applied for a place on AXA’s Global Graduate Program, I was in Australia finishing my Masters in Accounting at the Macquarie University in Sydney. I was attracted to the program because I recognised the firm foundation it would give me in my actuarial career as the number one global insurance company in the world. I also liked the mix of working in my home country of Indonesia before going on to get international experience.

I spent the first year in Indonesia, which was a great foundation for what I was set to learn in Hong Kong. I’m currently two months in to my Hong Kong placement and I love it. While I’ve had the opportunity to learn a lot and be involved in the different actuarial functions in Indonesia and am looking forward to returning, I find working in the regional office in Hong Kong to be a challenging experience. I get to develop my technical skills further from senior actuaries who are experts in the field.

There are also fewer actuarial resources in insurance companies in Indonesia so it’s harder to learn first-hand about the sector. I think it’s absolutely fantastic that AXA has given me the opportunity to learn and gain lots of international experience and exposure while working within a multicultural team.

If you’re a graduate interested in a truly global career in an open and challenging environment, then apply for our Global Graduate Program today.
